Emma Lei

Vice-President Academics Candidate

What sort of events or resources would you like to provide to students in terms of academics?

I would like to run study/review/kahoot sessions before important exams by collabrating with the ESS, similar to the one for CHEM 103 midterm (I was involved with organizing that event since I am currently volunteering as an Academic Coordinator for ESS). Another resource I think would be tremedously helpful is a online server/group chat where first year students can communicate together regarding up coming tests, answering questions for each other, etc. I would also like to collect information/tips and tricks regarding up coming courses in the next semster (by reaching out to upper year students/doing research online) and posting that information on social media for easy access.

How do you plan to represent the views of all first year students when interacting with academic committees or the faculty?

While interacting with the academic committess/faculty, I will keep in mind the importance of diversity and inclusivity in both my actions and words. On specific topics, I would use techniques like running surveys to gather general opinion and present it accurately. I understand that representing everyone would be diffcult, but I will do my best to state the general consensus while being aware of and avoiding any personal biases.
