Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) UAlberta Chapter

About

The Society of Petroleum Engineers UAlberta Chapter (SPE UAlberta Chapter) is the petroleum engineering discipline club at UofA! The events that SPE UAlberta puts on throughout the academic year are open to all engineering disciplines and majors because the energy industry is a multidisciplinary field that requires many different areas of expertise.

SPE UAlberta has taken students to SPE conferences, hosted many technical talks with industry professionals (which happen to be lots of successful UofA PetE alumni!), have gone on field trips to training rigs at Precision Drilling and Weatherford Drilling, and we have smaller social events such as wing nights throughout the year to build community within our discipline! All of these opportunities are a great chance to meet people, ask questions, and discuss Canadian energy!

On top of learning a lot about oil and gas through the courses and speakers we bring in, SPE UAlberta Chapter is working towards offering more opportunities to learn about other energy sources such as geothermal and hydrogen energy! If you ever want to learn more about what our club has to offer, feel free to come by our club room located in NREF 2-048!
